Veronica Besch

I was introduced to Ms. Roberta's products after reading about how wonderful her hair pudding was on a hair blog called Natural Hair Rules. I placed a call and explained that I was a new natural(Sept 2009) and just didn't know what I was doing and needed help. Ms. Roberta provided me with basics and explained how each product would benefit my hair. I have been a fan every since! I use her products on my hair as well as my son's hair. My favorite products are the hair pudding, smooth hair growth, scalp nourishment, and the curl soufflé!
I can't wait to try the gel. :-)

I'm back!

Greetings Naturalist! Well... I had abandoned the blog for a minute but now I'm back! I've been quite busy this past year developing new products, tweaking old ones and expanding. Many of my new clients and potential clients have questions about my hair products and the correct use.  You will be able to post your questions, pics and hair stories on this blog. OK... let's hear from you!

Loving you,
Sister Roberta

TLC for Children's Hair

Greetings and welcome to a new year!
With each New Year, we resolve to make changes in our lives. Some we keep, some we don't. One that I would encourage everyone who cares for a "Precious Little One" is to take better care of their hair. The absolute worse thing that is done to their little heads is the application of sodium hydroxide products; relaxers, texturizers! Please, please, please, don't do it! They can't tell you that they don't want this burning concoctions in their little heads without you yelling at them and proceeding! Believe me, there are products that will make caring for their hair easier on you and them.
1. Allow them to participate in grooming their hair.
2. Put their favorite movie in and allow them to choose from special snacks reserved for their grooming session
3. Allow them to choose the beads and/or ornaments.
4. Begin with a comb out product.
5. Always use a large tooth comb to untangle their hair beginning at the ends and work towards the scalp.
6. Do not groom their hair when you are upset or agitated. They will feel your anger in their heads.

Exfoliates

Greetings,
During this time of year we tend to step up our skincare regimen to rid our bodies of the dry flaky skin brought on by the onset winter. Choosing the wrong skin care exfoliate product can cause you to have a medical emergency.

When clients come into the store wanting to purchase our Peppermint Sea Salt Body Scrub or Mango Lime Sugar Body Polish, the first questions I ask are, "Do you have high blood pressure or been diagnosed with diabetes?" They always ask (sometimes annoyed) what their medical diagnosis has to do with it. Well, it has a lot to do with it. The skin is the largest organ of our bodies. That which is absorbed through our skin passes on into our blood system.

Many people do not know that if they have issues with high blood pressure they should not use skin care products containing salt. These include body scrubs, bath salts and soaks. When choosing a body product, check the ingredients for sodium which is another term used for salt.
Most bath soaks contain sodium carbonate which is used to soften water. Sugar scrubs/polishers are the best skin care exfoliate products for clients with high blood pressure.

The other side of the coin is clients who are diabetic. Diabetic clients have issues with the absorption of sugar. Using a sugar based skin care product can send their numbers off the charts! You guessed it. A good sea salt scrub is the product they should use.

We often overlook our skin care regimen when updating our physicians of changes we may have made since our last visit. This information should not be excluded because it could affect your doctors' decision to prescribe a higher dosage of medicine to control the sudden change in your condition. Instead of taking a higher dosage or additional medicines, you may simply need to change your skin care regimen. So please, be aware.

Don't forget to moisturize with a rich creamy body butter afterwards. Exfoliating without moisturizing can lead to premature wrinkling. Yuck!

Moisturizers and Oils

Greetings Everyone!
Winter is here! It snowed today in Houston,Texas! Big fluffy flakes have covered everything! It's beautiful! Now is the time to really protect your hair and skin from the dryness of the cold winter temperatures. Moisturize! It occurred to me that there is a misconception of what moisturizes are. Let me briefly explain. It will save you a lot of time, money and disappointment.
Moisturizers contain precious oils (almond, avocado, apricot, borage, wheat germ, vitamin -E, to name a few), water and an emulsifier (bees wax and polysorbate are the most common). This combination of ingredients create a product that will replenish moisture and heal the skin and hair. Oils alone lubricate while adding sheen and much needed vitamins and nutrients to the skin and hair. Both are needed to maintain healthy skin and hair. To understand the properties of the natural ingredients in your products, please refer to our "Ingredient" page at http://www.theoriginalfragranceshop.com/
